Is M-POWER a charity?

No, M-POWER is MECCA's social change movement championing gender equality. 

Will my entire donation get to the organisation I want to support?

Yes, if you donate via our website your donation amount, less applicable transaction fees, will go directly to the organisation you choose to support. 

Is my donation tax deductible?

If you're in Australia, all donations over $2.00 are fully tax deductible. You will be issued a tax receipt for your records when your donation is received.

If you’re in New Zealand, you can claim a 33.33% tax credit for all donations over $5 made to an approved charity.

Do you take donations from countries outside of Australia?

We do. You can choose to donate in a range of currencies. 

Is my donation and private information secure?

Yes. This website uses SSL technology to encrypt your personal data when it is transferred from your browser to the website. Your personal details are protected on our servers, which are PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant. We never store any credit card details on our servers.

PRODUCT SALES

Where do the proceeds of limited-edition M-POWER product sales go?

We donate 100% of the proceeds from M-POWER product sales to advancing M-POWER's mission including our M-POWERed Collective organisations. We defined proceeds as the gross sales value or recommended retail price (RRP). 

GOVERNANCE

How does M-POWER identify and select potential M-POWERed Collective organisations?

We work with leaders in philanthropy and social impact; academics; business; First Nations leaders and our M-POWERed Collective to identify changemakers and organisations:

  • whose mission is aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 5: achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
  • who operate in one or more of the four dimensions measured by the Global Gender Gap Report:
    • education
    • economic opportunity and empowerment,
    • health, safety and wellbeing, and
    • political representation and advocacy

We have a robust governance assessment framework informed by Perpetual’s Impact Philanthropy application process. 

How do you support organisations in the M-POWERed Collective?

We back and support founders, leaders and organisations with robust strategies, leadership and a track record of delivering meaningful outcomes. Our approach to M-POWERing organisations is about giving more than just money. It’s also about giving our M-POWERed Collective a platform, and a voice. It’s about supporting the professional and personal development of our Collective and education and engagement of our team and community. And it's about changing the story for women through impactful collaborations.

Where does the funding for M-POWER come from?

In 2022, MECCA committed to donating $25 million of its profits over five years to M-POWER and its mission to champion gender equality. Every time you shop at MECCA, you're helping to support M-POWER and the M-POWERed Collective.
